Ok — let’s see if I can sell this analogy. I’ve used it a couple times now and everyone seems to get it, will it translate into a short blog post?
Traditional marketing is like dating a jerk. You know, the guy is all “me, me, me.” There’s never a thought about you. Social media is that wonderful solicitous guy you end up marrying. He spends more thinking about you and your needs — or at least he pretends he does!
(Now let me add that jerk dating can be fun AND useful. We’ve all dated these guys, right girls? They can be fun, sometimes they can be turned into Mr. Right — when they come to truly appreciate you — and they can be fun. Did I mention that already? Fun is good.)
